August 2008 Archives

On March 5th, 2008, Alaska's Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44.

The controversy arises from two sources: First, Palin does not appear pregnant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months. While this is debatable, you can judge for yourself here:

Second, Palin's daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.

targeting your audience

how the three main cable nets fullscreened Sarah Palin. they do an excellent job of presenting the information in a way that their audience will respond to.

...and what our first thoughts are. Hooray Pixelmator.

i think i've figured it out

So I have been applying for jobs for four months now. I have lost all my skills, creativity, and artistic abilities. At the same time, I get no response to my numerous (and I mean NUMEROUS) job applications. I was starting to wonder if I really exist anymore.

I think I figured out what happened.

This guy stole my mojo.

He looks like me. He sounds like me. He writes goofy songs in various genres.

And I'm constantly told by strangers and friends alike that "you look like the guy."

Well, I'm not surprised. He hax0red my identity, my very self. He's probably getting all my job offers, too.

take note

That is Barack Obama with his only wife and his only two kids. Note that his entire family is there onstage.

You will not see John McCain with his whole family onstage. You might see his CURRENT family onstage. But you definitely won't see his 41-year-old daughter Sidney, because he abandoned her (along with her mother, John McCain's first wife) back in 1980. She lives in Canada, and he hasn't spoken to her in a decade.

too busy

so the Olympics happen between about 7:30pm EDT and noon EDT. NBC would have you think otherwise, and their online live offerings have dwindled compared to earlier in the Olympics (NBC has decided not to air any track & field events online, meaning following events of interest comes down to a self-refreshing results page) ... but there's still plenty to watch.

Sleep is easily had during the daylight hours. Or it was, until something new came around to track.

Get ready for Fay, suckas! This blog wasn't in action last time storms came rumbling through Tampa Bay (I was posting on LiveJournal back then) so we'll see how this goes. If the site disappears, assume we've lost power. And nothing of value was lost.

oh my god i love america and here is why

why i love president bush for going to china

It speaks for itself.

weapons of mass distraction

oh god it's hideous

in beautiful HD...

I love women's basketball, i really do. But this is just painful. I've already seen four airballs. I have yet to see a jump shot taken by either team, because none of the women on them can accomplish anything that qualifies as "jumping," which I'm pretty sure requires both feet to be off the ground at the same time.

But it's in HD! And there's three more channels of it in HD! Including Honduras vs. Italy soccer, with Korean commentary for baffling reasons!

(Hint: if you have cable, rescan your channels. You can enjoy bad basketball, handball, and soccer at 5am too!)

news travels a bit more slowly over there

Also, why wasn't he wearing a tie tonight? Are ties banned in Red China?

it's not a big truck
